LIST OF HALAL AND HARAM FOOD INGREDIENTS
The lists below have been taken with permission from the book 'Islamic Dietary Laws and Practices by Mohammad Mazhar Hussaini and M S Ahmad Hussein Sakr, Ph.D .
It should be noted that a product being imported from a Muslim country is not necessarily a guarantee that it is completely Halal. In fact, food is often imported from abroad into Muslim countries without proper checking of ingredients.
1. AN ALPHABETICAL DEFINITION GUIDE
An alphabetical list of Halal and Haram ingredients to look out for:
Bacon: A side of pig meat (pork).
Choletsorol: type of fat always of animal origin. If extracted from Zabiha animal, it is Halal.
Diglyceride: Emulsifier. If of animal origin it should be suspected till the source is known.
Gelatin (Jello Gelatin): Usually of animal origin, mostly from pig. If extracted from a dhabiha animal, then it is halal/
Glycerol (Glycerine): It could be of animal, plant or Glyceryl-Stearate synthetic origin. If animal source is used, it is suspected.
Hormones: Usually animal hormones are used for human consumption. One has to find out the source before passing a judgement.
Lard: Fat from swine particulaly found in the abdominal cavity. Totally Haram for us.
Magnesium Stearate (stearic acid): Used as an active ingredient in medicine tablets. Haram when derived from animal source.
Mono Glycerides: When derived from animal source. (Halal when the source is plant).
Pepsin: A digestive enzyme mostly from pig stomach.
Rennin (Rennet): A protein Enzyme. Usually not labeled. (In most cheeses).
Shortening: Fats and oils of animal origin. Animal/Lard
Vanilla: Extracted using alcohol.
Vitamins: Haram when from animal source. Mostly the source is synthetic or plant and are Halal.
Whey: Used in ice creams and yogurt. Haram when from animal source.

Selamat Tahun Baru 2011... Masa berlalu dgn pantas.. Separuh dari plan tahun 2010 berjaya dilaksanakan. Najib kata, mencapai KPI... Hentam jer ...
Misi terbesar nak gandakan pendapatan nampaknya semakin menampakkan hasil. 2 dari 3 plan asal dah menampakkan hasil walaupun tak bergelar jutawan.. Hehe... Jutawan 2020...
6 bulan terakhir, aku habiskan banyak masa bertapa dgn beberapa mahaguru. X cukup mahaguru, aku join 2-3 seminar dan beli seguni buku untuk capai KPI tahun 2020. Jutawan beb.....
Aku share sikit apa yg aku dah capai dari segi kewangan tahun lepas. 3 perkara yg aku plan nak awal tahun lepas ialah mula menyimpan dan melabur dalam 3 instrumen utama :
ASB aku hanya bagi pulangan 7.5% tahun ni. Tolak inflasi 4 %, dapat bersih dalam 3.5% jer. Tak berbaloi kalau semata-mata nak dapatkan income bulanan dari ASB. Tapi kerana buat pinjaman ASB, tolak untung rugi tiap tahun, 2020 nanti dah ada 200K dalam akaun. Jadi, misi menambah pendapatan melalui ASB diteruskan..
Memandangkan awal tahun 2009 dulu aku dapat wang KWSP yg boleh kira lumayan, aku mula melabur dalam 2 Unit Amanah Public Mutual... Hehe, nampaknya selepas 2 tahun, purata yg aku dapat lebih kurang 46%.. Memang lumayan tuh.. Kalo terus dgn prestasi camni, dalam masa 10 tahun, dgn kuasa compounding, aku akan dapat 6 kali ganda dari initial pelaburan aku.... Tp Unit Trust ni tak akan sentiasa camni, ada masanya, pulangannya lebih teruk dari ASB. So setiap 6 bulan aku akan revise balik, tukar Fund mana yg patut dgn target 2020, Initial aku menjadi 4 kali ganda. Tidak mustahil..... 2020, 100K lagi masuk akaun...
ILMU TERBAIK YG AKU DAPAT TAHUN 2010
Akhir Jun 2010, salah seorang sahabat aku berkongsi pengalaman pasal 1 benda yang sangat menarik... Potensi pulangan melebihi kesemua benda yg aku plan kat atas tadi... Aku memang gila kalo masuk bab duit berganda-ganda ni... Tp berdasarkan pengalaman lepas, aku paling takut 2 benda yg pernah aku kena dan ramai orang kat luar sana yg dah terkena. Skim Cepat kaya n MLM. Bukan aku nak burukkan MLM, tp ramai Upline MLM yg hanya pandai ambil peluang nak kayakan mereka sahaja. Dua benda ni dah sebabkn aku berhati-hati dalam bab duit ni. Sebab tu la ilmu tu penting.. Semua yg sahabat aku tu bagitau, aku simpan dalam otak baik2. Aku mulakan penyelidikan sendiri.....
Selepas 3 bulan aku buat research. Internet, 3-4 bijik buku, 2 kali seminar n setelah berjumpa 2-3 org pakar dalam bab ni, aku dapat simpulkan, BENDA ni secara teorinya memang memberikan pulangan yg lumayan kalau kena dgn strategi yg betul. Kalau xde strategi pun boleh dapat purata 30% tiap tahun ni.... Nak tau apa bendenya????

Nampaknya pasif income aku dah makin bertambah... Jadi untuk tahun 2011, aku dah tambah 1 lagi instrumen baru dalam portfolio income aku.... Cuma dgn modal 5k, xkan aku bleh jadi jutawan kan?

Rupanya emas ni dah 1400 tahun jadi penyimpan nilai kekayaan manusia. Bukan stakat simpan nilai, dgn cara yg betul, boleh gandakan wang kertas kita tu jadi berganda-ganda. So, Plan aku tahun 2011 ni, bukan stakat nak simpan emas, tapi nak jadi tokey emas dan jadikan emas ni sebagai tool nak capai matlamat aku tahun 2020... Jgn bimbang, aku x makan sorang beb... Aku dalam proses membina 1 lagi blog berkaitan emas ni, utk berkongsi cara dgn korang utk kita sama-sama gandakan wang gaji kita tu dgn emas.... Tunggu, x lama dah tu.... Teruskan plan 2 dan 3. Mencari peluang utk peluang beli hartanah dan gandakan gaji dgn EMAS. Aku cerita sket je bab emas ni... X rugi kalo korang baca...
Last week aku dah kumpulkan dokumen, akhir minggu depan aku akan dapat RM100k melalui pinjaman peribadi. 10 tahun loan dgn Rakyat, kena bayar M12++ tiap bulan. Xpe, sebab sifu aku cakap, "Berhutang dgn bijak, hanya berhutang kalau ianya boleh menguntungkan kita". Secara kasar, dgn hutang RM100k, aku perlu membayar lebih kurang RM147k pada bank. Dgn wang ni, kalau aku beli 100k emas, dalam masa 2 tahun je, nilai emas aku dah melebihi jumlah hutang (kenaikan purata 27% setiap tahun). Dalam masa 10 tahun, dah boleh mencapai 4 kali ganda dari pelaburan asal. Untung 250k...

Last week aku dah kumpulkan dokumen, akhir minggu depan aku akan dapat RM100k melalui pinjaman peribadi. 10 tahun loan dgn Rakyat, kena bayar M12++ tiap bulan. Xpe, sebab sifu aku cakap, "Berhutang dgn bijak, hanya berhutang kalau ianya boleh menguntungkan kita". Secara kasar, dgn hutang RM100k, aku perlu membayar lebih kurang RM147k pada bank. Dgn wang ni, kalau aku beli 100k emas, dalam masa 2 tahun je, nilai emas aku dah melebihi jumlah hutang (kenaikan purata 27% setiap tahun). Proton "Pahlawan" Series
A favourite modification theme for Mitsubishi Lancer owners is to ape the legendary Evolution, and we’re sure that some Proton Inspira owners or prospects are looking at the same direction too. But before anyone has attempted that on their new car, Proton Design themselves have come up with an “Inspira Evo” to provide some inspiration. As part of the carmaker’s “Pahlawan” series of concepts at KLIMS, this is the Jebat!
The Jebat has a matt black coat covering large parts of its front and rear, with a matching strip at the lower section of the doors. Look closely and you’ll also notice that the front and rear fenders are puffed up, wide-body style. There are also daytime LEDs, bonnet vents (three in total) and a rear spoiler for the Evo look. The rear bumper has a diffuser that’s quite narrow, covering only the length of the number plate. The wheels are 18-inch items.
Inside, Hang Jebat gets to sit on nice Recaros with red stitching, a theme repeated on the door panels. That and a Clarion touch screen ICE system are the only changes from the standard car.
Proton Kasturi
The Proton Saga facelift which made its world debut in Thailand earlier his week makes an appearance at the KLIMS 2010 as the Proton Kasturi Concept, which is kitted up but not quite the same as the Proton Saga R3 Concept shown in Thailand.
While that one’s kitted up by R3, the bodykit on this Proton Kasturi Concept is by Proton Design, and the car is done up in a black on white theme. The rear end features clear LED tail lamps, but unlike the Saga facelift and the Saga R3 concept facelift, this one doesn’t show off its rear muffler.
The interior has also been blinged up with a white and black theme, and the meter cluster also gets a new design which you can find a zoomed in image with more detail in the live photo gallery after the jump.
Proton Lekir
The Proton Lekir Concept is essentially a Lotus Europa with a Proton badge. It asks a very interesting question – could a more affordable Proton-badged Lotus Europe sell?
Word is that the Lotus Europa was supposed to be a Proton in the first place, and it was known as the Proton Sepang project, but along the way it was decided that it would be sold as a Lotus instead, and of course with that came along Lotus prices. The Europa was short-lived and the position of a more comfortable Lotus has been filled by the Lotus Evora.
Seems like quite a shame to let the Europa go to waste – now imagine this, a Proton-badged Lotus Europa priced below RM150,000 and powered by the upcoming turbocharged Campro engine. A true rakyat’s sports car?

This is the Proton Lekiu concept, part of the group of Proton Pahlawan Series concept cars on display at the KLIMS 2010. It’s an Exora-based SUV concept that uses the Exora’s platform, and the styling especially the front end also borrows heavily from the Exora with some offroader style design elements added.
This may or may not be sold as a Proton but we were informed sometime earlier this year at a briefing that Proton and Lotus Engineering were developing an SUV for Youngman Europestar so this could in fact be that project. If there’s a business case though, I don’t see why Proton won’t sell this. What do you think – should an SUV be part of Proton’s core model line-up?

Proton has quite a grand display at the KLIMS 2010 motorshow – there’s a whole array of concept models there that are called the Pahlawan series. All of them look like they could make it into production, at least some derivative of them – it’s just a matter of time when!
All of the concept cars are named after Malaccan warriors – Hang Tuah, Hang Jebat, Hang Lekir, Hang Lekiu and Hang Kasturi. The most exciting for me is this Proton Tuah Concept which you can see above. It’s a four door sedan that could most likely be a preview of the upcoming Persona R replacement model. It’s still a clay model of course so don’t expect production-like finishing. The Tuah/new Persona replacement will be Proton’s new global C-segment offering.
It features a new family face, with daytime running lights integrated in the headlamps and in the fog lamp area. The side profile features large 18 inch 10 spoke wheels wrapped with 225/40R18 tyres, and a nice sloping roofline. On the rear end the left and right tail lamp cluster is joined as a single piece, kinda like a 2nd generation Subaru Legacy.

Perodua Bezza
Perodua has unveiled a next-generation prototype model called the Bezza at KLIMS. The sleek concept is tagged as the sort of vehicle that’s ideal for the future Gen-Y crowd looking for something bigger to efficiently traverse the concrete jungle as well as for longer journeys.
Penned 100% by Malaysian designers (totalling 53 in all, including those from private learning institutions) led by P2′s chief designer Muhammad Zamren Musa, and fabricated in Thailand, the four metre-long B-pillarless vehicle is the company’s vision of what a compact car is – a vehicle that maximises the interior with a minimised exterior.
Branded as a ‘mobile living space,’ with all the mod cons expected in the digital age (communications, infotainment), the study is set to become a blueprint for the company’s future models, P2 says, even though the Bezza doesn’t feature any powertrain/drivetrain – the focus of the concept is on styling studies, that of design cues and character. Perodua says that if interest in the design is high, plans to develop the particular design further into a working unit may be pursued.
The five-seater concept, which uncannily contains traces of the Prius in its exterior lines, features sliding rear doors and swivel front seats for easy ingress and egress, along with a distinctly agressive headlamp design.
The clean-looking interior features a cockpit layout dashboard, with the instrument panel designed for the driver’s visual ease, and the floating centre console is shaped to provide additional legroom for both driver and front passenger, with a large luggage storage area part of the design brief as well.
